OUR ECO-PHILOSOPHY
Less is more.
This is the philosophy behind our pioneering eco-adventure programs. It is the reason why we have a massive fleet of kayaks stretch across the Caicos Islands. It is why we are the only name to know for Stand Up paddleboards and kiteboarding. It is the reason why all our boats are petrol 4-stroke and diesel. Indeed it is the single reason why we stick with small groups and have resisted the financial impulse to operate large boats with lots of people. The reef and the ocean lose and you lose. They suffer because of pressure and impact and you, our guest, lose your experience and opportunity, lost in the crowd, to get up, close and personal with what our seas and islands have to offer.
We therefore do our best to encourage:
- The use of biodegradable sunscreen
- The small group experience
- Meeting local people in the villages and homes of the Caicos Islands
- To always use dive and snorkel moorings. When we can not we look for sand and without 100% certainty our snorkelers and divers will drift while the boat hovers
- Support of the National Parks and National Trust
- "Soft In water' encounters with whales
- Top quality snorkeler and diver etiquette; neutral buoyancy, proper fin techniques and no touching or taking
- Proper paddle techniques on our kayak tours
- Education
- Picking up our trash and where possible that of others
- Encouraging our guests to take home their empty plastic containers such as shampoo and toothpaste as these islands have no recycling plant
- Our guests to be aware what they order from local restaurant menus. Where possible find out what is locally caught and order that over imported fish.
- To avoid the following fish; swordfish, seabass, salmon, king crabs, sole etc.
- Local fish include grouper, snapper, mahi mahi, wahoo, tuna*
- Supporting International Foundations
*NB even these fish are often imported. Do your best, think before you eat.
